ESP is an approach to language teaching which aims to meet the needs of particular learners. The concept of outlining the basic questions (5 W 1 H) should be applied in order to conduct ESP Class. You will be divided into 4 groups and investigate that basic questions applied in ESP Course. Each of groups will discuss the following factors in ESP course design:
Group 1: Needs analysis (who, why, where, when) —-> investigate nature of particular target and learning situation
Group 2: language description (what) ——> to investigate the syllabus and material development
Group 3: Learning Theories (how) —-> to investigate teaching methodology
Group 4: Setting ESP Course

The needs of appreciating literature are now becoming familiar in human’s life. One of the famous genres of literature is prose. Studying prose will bring positive effect since it is a reflection of human’s life. We can learn much knowledge from this imitation of life. By studying this English prose hopefully benefit for students to understand prose, especially the intrinsic elements of literature by having positive attitude in appreciating English prose. At the end, it will be useful for students who conduct literary as the subject for their thesis.
This compulsory course provides students with the opportunity to explore the contents found in fiction with emphasis laid on English short stories and novels.
To arrive at this objective, therefore, the discussion of English prose is the comprehension of literature, English prose, the elements of fiction (prose)/ the literary devices of prose and text analysis of the short story and a novel.

1.SIGNIFICANCES/ BENEFITS OF THE COURSE
The need of appreciating literature is now becoming familiar in human’s life. Studying and interpreting literature is not only conducted in school but also becoming wide world people’s professions and hobby. Joining this course, students are allowed to be an author, critic, or commentator. Studying literary appreciation is advantageous and beneficial for students in order to appreciate and understand some approaches that can be applied to literature and art (filmed medias). This course is also intended to invite student’s critical thinking on literature and to invite them to write from their deepest concept, and at the end, it will be useful for students who conduct literary as the subject for their thesis. This subject is prerequisite lecture for Introduction to Literature.
2.DESCRIPTION
This course focuses on reading and appreciating English literature. It supports the English Department’s goals of fostering critical thinking and reading skills and the clear expression of ideas as well as the ability to interpret and understand major literary works in a variety of genres by appreciating literature as well as giving their opinion by having a criticism.
